Writing a book is hard work-you don’t want clunky software slowing you down, so go with what you know and with what feels right to you. I can promise you though, there is no “right” choice here. It’s a powerful tool with a lot of advanced features that have a pretty steep learning curve, so don’t let yourself get distracted if you use it. Focus on what matters most: getting words down on paper. Obsidian is better suited for when you’re writing your rough draft of your book before transferring it into Google Docs or Microsoft Word. You can share your files with an editor or publisher but they can’t leave comments the way they can in Google Docs. It’s not the greatest for editorial collaboration though.

The real power of Obsidian comes from its key feature to find connections and relationships between ideas (called bidirectional linking), which can be very useful when you’re trying to weave together a coherent narrative between chapters or across a series of books. You might like Microsoft Word or Pages best.
